Andritz strengthens boiler service business by acquiring Allen-Sherman-Hoff

International technology group Andritz has acquired Allen-Sherman-Hoff from US-based Babcock & Wilcox Enterprises, Inc., further strengthening its offering of boiler solutions and related services. The acquisition supports Andritz’s long-term strategy to grow its aftermarket and service business by offering customers complete lifecycle solutions and support.

Valmet and Helen sign long-term service agreement to support the operation of new wood-pellet-fired boiler at Salmisaari power plant

Valmet and Helen Oy have signed a comprehensive four-year service agreement to ensure long-term performance for the newly converted wood-pellet-fired K7 BFB-boiler in Helen’s Salmisaari power plant in Helsinki, Finland. The agreement was included in Valmet’s orders received of the second quarter 2025 and it is effective immediately. The value of the agreement will not be disclosed.

Mondi to increase energy self-sufficiency to 90% at its pulp and paper mill in Slovakia with new biomass power plant

Mondi recently announced the construction of a new biomass power plant at its integrated pulp and paper mill in Ružomberok, Slovakia. The new power plant will replace the existing bark boiler and is scheduled for completion in 2027. This investment will increase the mill’s energy self-sufficiency from 75% to 90%, providing a more sustainable and reliable energy supply for both the mill and the local community. Mondi SCP is currently supplying district heating in Ružomberok, and once the new power plant is operational, it will be able to further supply energy without relying on natural gas.
